1.Brief introduction about technical center
| The Technological Center of Maanshan Iron & Steel Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as Masteel Technological Center or MTC) is an integrate technological management and development body, which integrates such activities as scientific and technical management, new product development, brainstorming of technological breakthrough, and inspection and testing of production. |

Masteel Technological Center is an enterprise-based technological center of national level, approved by authorities like the Chinese Economy and Trade Ministry in November of year 2001.
Maanshan Iron & Steel Company Limited established a workstation of scientific and technological research for postdoctorates and a base of scientific and technological research and training for ongoing postgraduates in the center in year 2003 and year 2005, respectively. The center covers an area of 78,000 M2, with fixed assets of RMB 82 million Yuan and 604 pieces or sets of equipment and instruments of various types.
MTC undertakes such tasks as research and development of new processes and products, novel technologies and materials, and testing of metallurgical products for Masteel, is also responsible for the formulation and implementation of planning with respect to mid-term and long-term progress of science and technology, technical innovation and creation, and development of technologies, and takes charge of the administration of in-house standards, patents and achievements for Masteel at the same time.
MTC consists of 8 sections or offices, five research institutes and a base of pilot test. The sections or offices are administrative office, politics section, technological development section, intellectual property section, inspection section, condition section , office of corporate scientific and technological association and trade union. The five institutes are research institute of process technology, which is engaged in researches of raw material, iron and steel making processes and related technologies; research institute of product development, which focuses on development of iron and steel products, rolling processes and technologies; research institute of comprehensive utilization, which is specialized in the research and development of shaping material and unshaped refractory materials, the comprehensive utilization of resources; research institute of scientific and technological information, which centers on analysis and research of technological information, edition and issuance of scientific & technological publications and technical exchange; research institute of inspection and testing technologies (labs of physics, chemistry, maintenance and repair of large-scale instruments, machining workshop), which provides service of analysis and testing of metallurgical products, composition and property of raw materials.
MTC currently employs 901 workers and staff, and enjoys a strong technical force. It has 260 of professionals with 26 varieties of disciplines, among which, there are more than 10 experts and professor level senior engineers entitled allowance awarded by the Chinese Central Government or Provincial Government, 105 senior engineers and 93 engineers, and also more than 40 graduates holding doctor degrees and master degrees. MTC has gradually imported a series of testing equipment and instruments of internationally advanced level, including Type GLEEBLE-2000 hot simulation tester, IBAS graphical analysis system, MTS material testing machine, XL30+ DX 4i SEM, Axiovert 200 MAT mot inverse metallographical microscope, Amsler RKP 450 oscillography impact tester, PE-5100 atomic absorption spectrometer, Type CS-600 and CS-820v determination apparatus, RH-404 impulse thermal conductance H2 determination apparatus, EMGA-620W oxygen and nitrogen analyzer, ICP emission spectrograph, PW2440 Magix Pro X fluorescence spectrometer, etc. In year 2004, Masteel will devote a large amount of investment to establish a base of pilot test plants in MTC, including blast furnace coal injection lab, multi-purpose lab of steel rolling, digital simulation lab of metallurgy, surface treatment lab, multi-functional lab of pyrology, and so on.
MTC actively promoted various forms of cooperation among enterprises of production, universities and research institutes since year 2002, and successively signed cooperation agreements with 6 universities or research institutes. MTC endeavors to utilize social resources to drive the creation and innovation of technologies in enterprises. It has recently undertaken 11 items of national scientific and technological research or technical creation, two projects of National 863 Program, and obtained a batch of achievements of high level and proprietary intellectual property, which are owned by Masteel. Among which, 69 items of accredited patents, 6 items of patents have been applied for examination and approval and is to be granted. MTC has obtained 26 prizes for scientific and technological achievements above the provincial level, developed more than 50 new types of products, and produced 1.5 million tonnes products of more than 120 new specification. Many products are the domestically initial creation, and over 30% of new products are designed for exportation or as substitutes of imported counterparts. MTC, early or later, developed high grade quick-speed train wheel (series of wheels with speed of 140-160£¬200£¬270 kilometers, especially used for high speed railway of passengers and cargoes), special high quality H steel(H steel applied in offshore petroleum exploring platform of internationally advanced level, railway rolling stock and bridges, trading H steel in accordance with BS,AS and JIS and imported to America, Europe and Southeast Asia markets), fastener steel, series of quality hard wire, bonding wire, mine application steel, and the like, among which, most of products fill up the void in domestic production and reached up to the international advanced level.
In July of year 2002, the research institute of inspection and testing technologies of MTC passed the examination and appraisal by the National Authentication Committee of Chinese Laboratory. The authenticated range of technological ability covers 217 items, and the involved practitioners are up to 398. The results of inspection and testing presented by this institute can be recognized by 46 countries and districts all over the world, and the data of testing provided by it enjoys mutual acknowledgement, fairness and authority within the international organizations concerned. Anhui Provincial No.1 Quality Supervision and Testing Station for iron and steel materials, which is operated and administrated by MTC, is a provincial level quality supervision and testing body set up by Anhui Provincial Supervision Bureau of Technical Quality. The main tasks of the station include implementing varieties of quality supervision and testing works arranged by Anhui Provincial Supervision Bureau of Technical Quality, cooperation with departments in charge of the technical supervision, industrial and commercial administration in the activities of market supervision and spot-check.
MTC has contributed a great deal to the business operation and development of Masteel in the field of metallurgical technologies. It will insist on continuous improvement, creation, strengthening profitability. £¨ 1 £© postdoctoral work station of Maanshan Iron & Steel company (shortened form is Masteel postdoctoral work station) was ratified by the postdoctal management committee of National Ministry of personnel
Masteel HR department and technical Center are responsible for management of Masteel postdoctoral scientific and reserch work station. The station was set at the Masteel technical center. Masteel HR department are responsible for the contact the upper management department , organizing and introducing the postdoctoral personnel. Signing the related agreements, solve the daily living problem. The Masteel technical center are responsible for providing and managing the resarch programme and offering the related studying and examination contidtion and fee, and make the adminstration of pesonnel .
The main task of Masteel postdoctoral scitific and research work station is to introduce the high rank scientif research personnel , and make research and development (R &D) job on the Masteel's project with a better marketing foreground during the manfacture, operation and development
On April 2003, Masteel postdoctoral scitific and research work station signed a work agreement with Postdoctoral scitific and research work station of Beijing Iron & Steel reaserch head institute after negotiation. And they established ¡°Postdoctoral work station of Beijing Iron & Steel reaserch head institute Maanshan Iron & Steel company limited sub station¡±
On October 2003 , after the ratifing of the national postdoctoral management committee, the first group of postdoctor accessed the work station working , and they undertook the two important scientific and reserch topic( one of them is project of the national 863 Hi-Tech plan.
On septmber 2004 , Masteel postdoctoral scitific and research work station established a cooperation relationship with Nanjing science and techology university . Two postdoctor began their R&D work at Masteel postdoctoral scitific and research work station one after the other .

The main task of Masteel present -learning postgraduates scientific and research training base (station ) is to base on technical resource of technical center such as test method and information plateform togother with better scientific and research working environment to practise centralized administration with the present learning postgraduates who received the Masteel consigning training at the subject of steel metallurgy and material science during the phrase of their subject studying and thesis composing . Air erosion resistent type 09CuPTiRe-B H beam for railway has the strength grade of 345Mpa , and the plastic property reaches £ 40 ¡æ and meet the manufacture requirements of impact toughness of railway vehicle at low temperature. Comparing with common Q235 , it has a relatively low erosion rate less than 65% of nomal value. |
The product has applied on plate vehicle with 25 tons shafte weight which was devoloped by Beijing two seven railway vehicles manufaturing plant . In order to meet the requirement of export , Masteel developed high strength 55C H beam for building basement piling in accordance with British standard . The strength yield of this product is 450MPa £¬ its tensile strength is 550Mpa. We can guaranteethat the impact power is not less than 27J at 0 ¡æ . And its carbon equivalent is not bigger than 0.45 £¥ . This product passed the certification of Hongkong arhitectural service department, Hongkong Authority and housing department .
